The Earth Day Symposium

April 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This event will be a conversation hosted by The Friends of the LA River (FOLAR) and H2OC, two organizations focused on maintaining our local watersheds. We will have a discussion about the history of water in the LA/OC basin, how it got to be the way it is, and how we can help to keep our channels clean. See website link for registration.

The Earth Day Symposium continues to inform and educate the campus community each year on Earth Day.  This year’s Symposium will focus on local watersheds in L.A. and Orange Counties featuring panelists from Friends of L.A. River (FOLAR) and H2OC Stormwater program. Ever wonder where all of the rain ends up after running into the storm drain? Have you seen photos of debris along local beaches after large winter storms? Are you interested in the health of our rivers and coastal areas?

Join us for a discussion about our local watersheds. After a brief historical perspective on local rivers and watersheds our panelists will discuss their work in protecting local watersheds and share their journey from community college to their current positions. Audience members will be encouraged to pose questions during the Q&A session.
