Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when Fullerton College is closed during the Winter Holidays from Dec. 22, 2023 to Jan. 1, 2024?

Instructors and students are not expected to engage when the campus is closed for the Winter Holidays. All instruction and support services stop during this time and resumes on Jan. 2, 2024.

What Student Services will be available during Winter Intersession?

All student services will be available virtually during Winter Intersession. Hours of operation vary by service. Please visit the Vice President of Student Services website for more information.

Are students required to pay the $26 health fee for Winter Intersession?

No. The $26 health fee will be charged for the Spring 2024 semester.

Are students required to pay the transportation fee for Winter Intersession?

No. The $5 transportation fee for students enrolled in less than 12 units and the $5.75 transportation fee for students enrolled in 12 units or more will only be required for Spring 2024 courses.

Are students required to pay parking fees for Winter Intersession?

No. However, students should comply with all parking requirements if they come to campus during the Winter Intersession.

How will Winter Intersession affect financial aid for students?
Do Winter Intersession courses count toward the requirement to enroll in at least 12 units for the Spring 2024 semester for Promise Students?

No. Promise students are required to take 12 units each fall and spring semester (there are exceptions for students receiving disability support services and were recommended to take less than 12 units). Promise students can enroll in winter courses but will be responsible for winter enrollment fees.

How will prerequisite courses during Winter Intersession impact Spring 2024 registration?

Students will not be able to register into a Spring 2024 course without support from Admissions and Records if the prerequisite course was completed during Winter Intersession. Students will need to contact Admissions and Records for assistance in registering for the Spring course.

How will the Winter Intersession courses appear on student transcripts?

Currently, Winter Intersession courses will appear under the Winter/Spring 2024 term on student transcripts.

Financial Aid Information

Financial aid is available to eligible students taking Winter Intersession classes!

Eligibility and Disbursement Information

  • Students must submit a 2023-2024 financial aid application (FAFSA or CADAA, whichever is applicable) to Fullerton College to determine Winter Intersession financial aid eligibility including the California College Promise Grant (CCPG).
  • Students must complete all financial aid verification requirements here.
  • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements at the end of Fall semester in order to receive a financial aid disbursement.
  • If enrolled in less than full-time status (12 or more units), financial aid may be prorated accordingly.
  • Students will receive only one financial aid award offer for both Winter Intersession 2023 and Spring 2024. Students will not receive extra financial aid for Winter Intersession 2023. This means that Winter Intersession 2023 online classes will be paid with Spring 2024 financial aid. Any remaining Spring 2024 financial aid, after Winter Intersession 2023 is paid, will be applied to Spring 2024 tuition fees.
  • Students may receive a financial aid payment at only one institution per semester. A financial aid payment for Winter Intersession 2023 is considered an early Spring 2024 semester payment. Students who enroll in Winter Intersession 2023 classes at Fullerton College will be considered as having received a Spring 2024 financial aid payment. Therefore, these students will no longer be eligible for a Spring 2024 payment at any other institution for that semester.

Example of a student enrolled in classes for Winter Intersession 2023 and Spring 2024

Buzzy is awarded financial aid for the Spring 2024 semester in the form of the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) and Pell Grant.

Buzzy enrolls in 3-units for Winter Intersession 2023. The $46 per unit enrollment fees are paid by the CCPG. Then, 25% of their Spring 2024 Pell Grant will be used to pay for the remaining tuition fees for the Winter Intersession 2023 class. If there is remaining Pell Grant after fees are paid, then a disbursement will be made to Buzzy via BankMobile.

Buzzy enrolls in 12-units for Spring 2024. The $46 per unit enrollment fees are paid by the CCPG. Then, because 25% of their Spring 2024 Pell Grant was used to pay for the 3-units of Winter Intersession 2023, Buzzy now has only 75% of Pell Grant to help pay the remaining tuition fees for Spring 2024. If there is remaining Pell Grant after fees are paid, then a disbursement will be made to Buzzy via BankMobile.

Note: Financial aid award offers are based on financial need as determined by FAFSA or CADAA. Interested students are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office to determine how their Spring 2024 financial aid award offer may change if enrolling in Winter Intersession 2023 online classes.

Enrollment Status

Full time: 12 or more units
Half time: 6-8 units
Three-quarter time:  9-11 units
Less than half time: 5 or less units

Winter Intersession 2023 Disbursement Date

Dec. 19, 2023
First disbursement of Federal Pell Grant.

Students enrolled in all online classes may have a disbursement hold placed on their account. The hold will be lifted after the Spring 2024 freeze date. Students should check with the Financial Aid Office for details.

Winter Intersession 2023 Freeze Date

Feb. 12, 2024
The Winter Intersession 2023 freeze date will be the same as the Spring 2024 freeze date of 2/12/24. Winter Intersession 2023 financial aid grants will adjust accordingly (either increase or decrease) if students make changes to their enrollment during the Winter Intersession 2023 term. If awarded the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), the CCPG will waive the $46 per unit enrollment fees for any number of units.

When the Winter Intersession financial aid disbursement process begins, students will see a negative balance on myGateway. After Fullerton College makes a request for payment, it will take 5-10 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for the refunds to be processed and transferred to the student’s selected refund preference. The negative balance will become $0 on myGateway once the refund has been transferred to BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. Students who are setup to receive BankMobile Disbursements emails and/or text messages will be notified once the refund has been deposited into their selected refund preference.
