Dear Hornet Familia,
We have officially made it to the summer! As we ease into this season of reflection and plan for the next year, I want to congratulate you on your hard work and commitment. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to wrap up another successful academic year. Felicidades, Hornets!
This past Saturday, we celebrated our college’s 111th Commencement Ceremony, where nearly 1,000 graduates crossed the stage with their family and loved ones to witness. Among our graduates were student-athletes that made history as 3C2A champions, as well as students from the Speech and Debate team who also took home the title of national champions.
I am so grateful to those of you who worked to make commencement possible. From staff on the Student Life and Leadership team to our volunteers on the field and those assisting our dignitaries, I really appreciate your selfless dedication to making our students’ big day a true success.
While the summer may be a time to catch up on busy work or plan upcoming projects, I encourage you to join us at our Pride Month events this month. I look forward to gathering our comunidad as we recognize the history, honor and resilience of LGBTQ+ communities here on campus.
As a reminder, summer classes begin on Monday, June 8. While some of our students are ready to continue their FC journey into the summer, I know they will be in the good hands of our student support and instructional services staff. If you have a student enrolled in summer courses or a student interested in enrolling, please encourage them to visit the schedule and catalog webpage to learn more about important dates, courses and our resource guides.
While summer signals the end of an academic year, it also brings exciting changes and new beginnings. I hope you get the chance to take some time off to do what you love and visit new places – places that you may have never even been to before. I wish you a great summer ahead and look forward to sharing about each other’s experiences as colleagues, friends and a familia. I’ll be enjoying Madrid, Bordeaux and I like the social media meme, no bad days in June, just Bad Bunny! I’ll be seeing him at his last concert in Madrid to celebrate my birthday month.
